【Who is Tanpong? — WCIGS Runner-up】

Tanpong Songpanich is the 2023 World Coffee in Good Spirits (WCIGS) runner-up and Thailand national champion.

Active in global competitions and training, he has coached five national champions and one world finalist.

As a long-time user of Femobook grinders, Tanpong demonstrated the A4Z and A68 at World of Coffee, sharing his own impressions from daily use.

Below are his key takeaways from the session.

Very, Very Nice Grind Quality — Using the A4Z】

During his demo, Tanpong mentioned that he’s also a big fan of hand grinders like Comandante and 1Zpresso, though hand grinding usually takes one to two minutes per dose.

When brewing for a few people at events, he said that using the Femobook A4Z electric grinder not only saves time but also delivers very, very nice” grind quality.

Vibrant, Juicy Acidity — Flavor Profile of the A4Z】

Tanpong shared that he has been using both grinders.

For those who prefer filter coffee (pour-over), he said he would recommend the Femobook A4Z because it brings out:

  • very vibrant, very juicy acidity — a defining characteristic of this grinder. [1]

1. The A4Z, specially designed for pour-over, is equipped with the 1Zpresso ZP6 burr set.
The ZP6 is renowned for its uniform grind and clean flavor profile, and was also used by 2023 World Brewers Cup Champion Carlos Medina in his competition setup.

Sweeter, More Balanced, More Layers — Flavor Profile of the A68】

Tanpong mentioned that he has a Femobook A68 at his bar.

He said the A68 brings out more sweetness in the cup, with added depth and balance in flavor.

When he wants coffee that tastes sweeter, with richer layers and more complex flavor, he reaches for the A68.

Filter and Espresso in One — The Versatile A68】

Tanpong noted that the A68 isn’t limited to filter coffee — it can also grind for espresso, offering flexibility across brew methods.[1]

Comparable to Large Grinders, Yet More Affordable — Overall Performance of the A68】

Tanpong mentioned that there are many large, expensive (commercial) grinders on the market.

Compared with those, the Femobook A68 grinds a little slower [1], but it delivers the same cup quality at a more affordable price.

Whether you’re a café owner, a roaster, or a home brewer, the A68 is an excellent grinder to choose.

1. The A68 features large 68mm burrs rotating at a fixed 60 rpm, which minimizes heat buildup that can affect flavor, resulting in a balance between grinding efficiency and cup quality.

Ideal for Home or Café Use — The A4Z and A68】

Tanpong pointed out that the A68 grinds faster than the A4Z [1] , but both grinders perform excellently whether used at home or in a café.

No tools are required — simply remove the magnetically attached parts, use the included blower and brush to clear the chamber, and let the components snap neatly back into place.

Tanpong’s Review of the Femobook A4Z & A68 Electric Grinders】

As a Femobook user, Tanpong shared his thoughts based on both his on-stage demonstration and everyday brewing experience.

The A4Z — Bright, Juicy Acidity, Ideal for Pour-Over

He described the A4Z’s most distinctive quality as its “vibrant, juicy acidity,” making it an excellent choice for pour-over enthusiasts.

The grind quality is “very, very nice,” suitable for both home and café use.

The A68 — Sweet, Balanced, and Versatile
